X-Mas Movie Fest
The Whole Wide World
throughout its shooting and, as other great indie films do,
remained under the radar well after its release...
who saw in it the chance to portray a real-life tragic figure
no one else had ever shifted the spotlight upon
(Robert E. Howard, pulp author
well-known to fantasy buffs:
Kull, The Conqueror from Atlantis.
Red Sonja,
and... Conan The Barbarian.)
to an actress of true talent:
If the biopic movie is no longer available for viewing
(and it is no surprise that it will not be for long!)
you can always fall back on some audio books
authored by the man himself,
but read by another...
And if such anecdotic and sober fare
(a story that ends so sadly - despite the fine memoir it begat, many years later)
is not your cup of tea, for the Holidays and all,
we have another couple of chances to hit the mark here...
Let's start with this fine exercise
in the art of making a wholesome Christmas love story movie
with just a hint of mystery pertaining to that good old
often intangible but always there ''Christmas Magic''
courtesy of Maple Island Films and MarVista Entertainment...
Complete with an all-too familiar cast
of various character-actors you've seen everywhere,
in assorted supporting roles,
''A Golden Christmas'' is all about a golden retriever, really
and its uncanny longevity as, also, ability to make people
retrieve and recollect precious life-altering mementos...
Another unlikely romance movie, everybody?
Here it is:
''Once Upon A Christmas''
Dig up the lowdown on that one all by yourselves now,
elves and Santanic helpers:
because we've got our hands full getting the presents,
decorations and patented X-Mas Spirit
all ready for the 24th, now...
